Curriculum: Practice Management
At successful completion of the two-year program, students will:
Practising in Alberta
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the different professional associations and societies in the province and how they relate to emerging national standards
- Know how the practice of massage fits into the health care system. Become proficient in communicating with other health care professionals and agencies.
Business Skills
- Recognize that massage therapy is an entrepreneurial career that requires business planning, marketing, and informed decision-making.
- Understand the importance of good practices in accounting, record keeping, and business management.
- Understand how to build a clientele and promote a successful massage practice.
- Understand requirements for business, liability, and disability insurance.
