Advanced Placement Option

If you are a massage therapist who has graduated from a short course (a one-year program in relaxation massage, for example) that is similar to our first year, you may qualify for advanced placement to our second year, which leads to our 2200-hour Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy. Second year studies refine and builds on your skills, covering pathology, assessment and treatment, and advanced practice management.

If you have an acceptable qualification in basic relaxation massage or the equivalent, you will be allowed to challenge our first-year exam. The pass mark is 75% in written, oral and practical components. Depending on the course you attended and how long you have been practicing, we may waive the requirement for the practical exam. You will need the first-year materials, which is a binder of all first-year assignments, lecture notes and module exams. You will also need the core textbooks, if you do not already have them. Most students need several weeks for review before challenging the exam.

	Deposit on materials:	$150		(applied to second-year tuition, otherwise not refundable)
	Written exam fee:	$50
	Oral & practical exam fee:	$100
	Tuition for second year:	$7,400		($7,250 after deposit is deducted)

If you are a member of the NHPC or the MTAA, you will be eligible for a $500 reduction in second-year tuition (applies only to September 2010 starts).
